Tecno Camon 19 – An Affordable Phone with Impressive Camera Specs

Tecno Mobile launched their latest Camon series phone, the Camon 19, in mid-2022. As someone looking for an affordable smartphone with a good camera, I decided to check out the specs and features of this device.

Design and Display

The Camon 19 has a mid-range design that still looks quite sleek. It has a 6.8-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1080×2460 pixels. At this screen size, the resolution provides decent clarity for multimedia consumption. The phone is a little on the heavier side at 198g, but this is reasonable given its large screen size.

Camera System

The biggest highlight of the Camon 19 is undoubtedly its camera specs. On the rear it has a triple camera system consisting of a 64MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and a QVGA camera. The 64MP main sensor should be capable of capturing detailed shots. It also has a 16MP front camera. Both cameras are capable of recording 1080p video at 30fps.

Performance and Hardware

Under the hood is a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM depending on the model. This provides capable performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming. There is 128GB of storage which is generous for the price point. It also has a 5000mAh battery that should provide reliable all-day usage on a single charge.

Software and Other Features

The Camon 19 runs on Android 12 out of the box with Tecno’s HIOS skin on top. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for secure biometrics. Other features include dual SIM support, USB-C charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack and FM radio. NFC is also present for payments.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the Tecno Camon 19 starts around 380,000 for the 4GB/128GB variant. For the specs on offer, especially its formidable camera system, this makes it an incredibly affordable option. It will be interesting to see real-world camera samples, but on paper Tecno seems to have a winner with the Camon 19. Its combination of features target multimedia users on a budget.
