Xiaomi recently released the Poco X5 Pro, the latest smartphone in their popular Poco lineup. As the successor to the Poco X4 Pro, the Poco X5 Pro brings some notable upgrades while still targeting the mid-range market.
Design and Display
The Poco X5 Pro sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080×2400 and a high refresh rate of 120Hz. This makes for a sharp and smooth viewing experience. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 as well.
On the back, the phone has a glass panel and plastic frame. It comes in at 162.9 x 76 x 7.9mm and weighs 181g. Overall, the design seems ergonomic and premium for a mid-range phone.
Performance and Hardware
Powering the Poco X5 Pro is the Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset, which provides solid performance for both daily tasks and mobile gaming. It’s paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM depending on the storage configuration.
Storage options are 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage. Unfortunately there is no microSD card slot for expanded storage.
The 5000mAh battery supports 67W fast charging via USB-C, which Xiaomi claims can charge from 0-100% in just 45 minutes. This large battery should provide all-day life even with intensive use.
Camera
For photography, the Poco X5 Pro sports a triple rear camera setup comprised of a 108MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro sensor. The front-facing camera is 16MP.
Video recording tops out at 4K30fps on the main camera. Various modes and AI scene detection are also available.
Software and Connectivity
The Poco X5 Pro runs Android 12 out of the box with MIUI 13 on top. It supports dual-SIM connectivity as well as 5G networks on both SIM cards. Other connectivity options include WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, IR blaster, and NFC for payments.
