Xiaomi Pad 6: A High-Spec Android Tablet for Less
Xiaomi unveiled their new Pad 6 tablet back in April 2023, debuting a high-powered yet affordable Android slate to compete in the growing budget tablet market. Let’s take a closer look at what the Xiaomi Pad 6 has to offer.
Design and Display
The Pad 6 sports an 11-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2880×1800, producing sharp and vibrant images thanks to its strong 550 nits of maximum brightness. The screen occupies over 83% of the front thanks to slim bezels, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Measuring just 6.5mm thick and weighing 490g, the Pad 6 is lightweight and slim. Its aluminum frame and backs give it a sturdy yet premium feel in the hand. A magnetic stylus is also supported for productivity tasks.
Hardware and Performance
Powering the Pad 6 is the Snapdragon 870 chipset, an upper-midrange processor that provides strong all-around performance. It’s paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM depending on the storage configuration. Storage options include 128GB or 256GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage.
The Snapdragon 870 is no slouch and provided smooth navigation and app launching during my brief time with the Pad 6. Games like Genshin Impact ran very well too on the large high-res display with no noticeable lag.
Cameras and Battery
Around back is a single 13MP camera capable of 4K video, while a 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. Audio comes by way of four built-in stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support for an immersive media experience.
Keeping the lights on is a sizable 8840mAh battery that Xiaomi claims will provide all-day usage. The included 33W fast charger can quickly top it back up when running low.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing for the Xiaomi Pad 6 starts around 750,000 Naira for the base 6GB/128GB model. That undercuts most rivals from Apple and Samsung by a sizable margin. It’s currently available in select global markets after launching in China back in April 2023.
Overall, the Xiaomi Pad 6 shapes up to be a very compelling Android tablet particularly for its combination of strong specs, attractive design, and competitive price point. Its performance and features match up well against pricier competitors from other brands.
