Xiaomi Launches New Budget-Friendly Tablet – The Redmi Pad SE
Xiaomi has recently launched a new affordable tablet called the Redmi Pad SE. Positioned as a budget-friendly device, the Redmi Pad SE comes with decent specs at an attractive price point.
The Redmi Pad SE sports an all-aluminum design that feels sturdy. It has thin bezels around an 11-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1200×1920 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen produces vibrant colors and acceptable brightness levels of up to 400 nits. At just 7.4mm thick and 478g weight, the tablet is lightweight and portable.
Under the hood is a Snapdragon 680 4G chipset coupled with 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM options. This should handle basic tasks like browsing, streaming and light multitasking without issues. Storage options include 128GB/256GB with expandable microSD storage.
Benchmark scores put the Redmi Pad SE on par with other budget tablets. The Snapdragon 680 is no powerhouse but provides decent enough performance for casual use. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 610 GPU.
An 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera are provided for video calls and casual photography. Both can record 1080p video. Connectivity includes WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB-C port but there is no cellular connectivity or NFC. Audio is enhanced by four stereo speakers with support for 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Res audio.
A 8000mAh battery powers the tablet and Xiaomi claims it can last up to 13 hours of active use on a single charge. With average usage, the battery life should be sufficient for a full day’s use. It supports 18W fast charging via the USB-C port.
The Redmi Pad SE starts at around 400,000 Naira for the base 4GB+128GB variant. Other options include 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models. It comes in Lavender Purple, Graphite Gray and Mint Green colors. The tablet is currently available in select markets and will be rolled out globally over the coming weeks.
Overall, the Redmi Pad SE seems like a decent budget-friendly tablet for casual use like video streaming, web browsing, content consumption and more. At its attractive price point, it offers good value and could be a popular option in the affordable tablet segment.
