The OnePlus 7T was released in September 2019 as a mid-cycle upgrade to the OnePlus 7. It boasted some impressive specs that made it a powerful smartphone even at its price point.

Design and Display

Featuring a glass front and back with an aluminum frame, the OnePlus 7T had a premium look and feel. At 160.9 x 74.4 x 8.1 mm and 190g, it was compact and comfortable to hold. Perhaps its standout feature was the 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, providing very smooth visuals. With its 1080×2400 resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio, content looked fantastic on this large, vibrant screen.

Camera System

For taking pictures, the OnePlus 7T had a capable triple rear camera system. The 48MP main camera captured excellent detail, while the 12MP telephoto lens enabled 2x optical zoom. A 16MP ultra-wide camera allowed more scene to be captured. Video could be recorded at up to 4K 60fps with gyro-EIS for stable footage. Selfies were handled by a 16MP front-facing camera.

Performance and Hardware

Powering the OnePlus 7T was Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 855+ chipset with 8GB of RAM. This ensured seamless multitasking and graphics-intensive tasks or games were handled with ease. Storage options included 128GB or 256GB of fast UFS 3.0 storage. A 3,800mAh battery provided sufficient endurance too. Warp Charge 30T allowed the battery to charge quickly.

Connectivity and Software

The OnePlus 7T supported all major 4G LTE bands as well as WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity. OxygenOS based on Android 10 offered a clean interface and frequent software updates were provided. Fingerprint unlocking worked through an improved in-display sensor.

Overall, the OnePlus 7T delivered an excellent value flagship experience when it was released. With solid specifications, premium design, affordable price tag and OxygenOS software, it appealed to both power users and ones on a budget. Even a few years later, it remains a capable smartphone choice.
