Affordable and Feature-Packed – The Huawei nova Y61

Huawei has introduced a new budget-friendly smartphone called the nova Y61. Priced starting at around 260,000 Naira, the nova Y61 aims to offer strong value by packing in several capable features.

To begin with, it has a large 6.52-inch LCD screen with a HD+ resolution, which is quite good for the price point. Powering the device is an octa-core processor, though Huawei has not specified which exact chipset it uses. There are configurations with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with a microSD card slot as well for expansion.

In terms of cameras, the nova Y61 comes with a triple rear setup headlined by a 50MP main sensor. The other two cameras are dedicated macro and depth sensors. Selfies are handled by a 5MP front-facing camera.

Other highlights of the phone include a 5,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging, dual SIM support, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and facial unlocking. It has Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band WiFi, GPS, and runs Huawei’s EMUI 12 software (though without Google Play services).

All in all, the nova Y61 presents itself as a capable overall package for the price asked. Huawei has included batteries of features that one would typically expect from a phone costing significantly more. Where it may struggle is in raw processing power due to the unspecified chipset used.

But for casual users on a strict budget, the nova Y61 could be a very solid choice considering what you get at 260,000 Naira. Just don’t expect top-tier performance. The large battery, multiple RAM/storage options, and capable triple camera setup make it an appealing overall package.
