Motorola has just announced its latest flagship smartphone, the Motorola Edge (2023). As the fourth generation of the popular Edge series, Motorola aims to build upon the success of previous models with improved specs and features.
Design
The Edge (2023) sports a refined yet familiar look. It features a 6.6-inch P-OLED display with thin bezels and rounded corners, resulting in an impressive screen-to-body ratio of over 90%. The screen supports a high 144Hz refresh rate and gets bright at 1200 nits. The aluminum frame and eco-friendly leather back feel premium in the hand. It is IP68-rated as well.
Hardware and Performance
Under the hood, the Edge (2023) is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7030 chip paired with 8GB of RAM. Storage is fixed at 256GB without expandability. Motorola promises a smooth experience thanks to the 7030’s cores and Mali GPU. The 4440mAh battery supports 68W fast wired and 15W wireless charging.
Cameras
For photography, there is a 50MP main camera along with a 13MP ultra-wide lens. Video recording maxes out at 4K30fps. On the front, a 32MP selfie camera takes sharp shots.
Software and Connectivity
The phone runs a clean version of Android 13 out of the box with updates promised to Android 14. Connectivity options include 5G, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and more. It also supports eSIM for wireless plans.
Pricing and Availability
The Motorola Edge (2023) is priced very competitively at 512,000 Naira for the 8GB/256GB configuration. It will be available for purchase from major US carriers and retailers starting mid-October 2023.
Verdict
At this price, the Edge (2023) offers good value with its refined design, quality display, powerful chip, and clean software experience. It could be a solid option for those looking for a capable Android flagship at an affordable price point.
