Motorola Launches Budget-Friendly Moto G Play (2024)
Motorola has announced a new addition to their popular Moto G series – the Moto G Play (2023). As the name suggests, this is positioned as a more affordable option for those on a budget.
The Moto G Play 2023 sports a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a 720×1600 pixel resolution. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 4G chipset along with 4GB of RAM. There is 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD.
For optics, it relies on a single 50MP main camera on the rear. Selfies and video calls are handled by an 8MP front camera. Both cameras support features like HDR and can record full HD 1080p video at 30 frames per second.
Keeping the lights on is a sizable 5000mAh battery which Motorola claims will provide all-day battery life on a single charge. Charging is achieved through the USB Type-C port at up to 15W speeds.
Other specs include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/GLONASS and dual-band WiFi. The phone boots Android 13 out of the box and is promised security updates every 90 days.
At 230,000 Naira, the Moto G Play 2023 comes across as a well-rounded package for the price. The large battery, expandable storage and near-stock Android experience could appeal to budget shoppers. It will be interesting to see how it competes against similarly priced offerings from Xiaomi, Samsung and others.
