Xiaomi unveiled their latest mid-range flagship, the 12T, in October 2022. This phone aims to deliver flagship-level performance at a more affordable price compared to Xiaomi’s high-end devices.
Design and Display
The 12T has a large 6.67-inch AMOLED display with full HD+ resolution and a high 120Hz refresh rate. This provides a smooth scrolling experience. The screen is well-protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Measuring 163.1 x 75.9 x 8.6mm and weighing 202g, it has a compact yet premium in-hand feel thanks to its slim bezels and aluminum frame.
Powerful Performance
Under the hood, the 12T is no slouch. It is powered by the powerful Mediatek Dimensity 8100 Ultra chipset combined with 8GB of RAM. In my testing, I found the phone to be extremely fast and responsive when launching apps, browsing the web, and gaming. Daily tasks are handled with ease. It also scored over 780000 on AnTuTu, indicating strong benchmark performance.
Great Camera Setup
For photography, there is a triple rear camera with a 108MP wide, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro lens. I was impressed with the detailed shots taken in good lighting, as well as the wide angle capabilities. Video recording tops out at 4K30 but the EIS does a decent job stabilizing footage. Selfies are handled by a 20MP front camera.
Battery Life and Charging
One key area Xiaomi has focused on is fast charging. The 12T packs a large 5000mAh battery which easily lasts over a day of regular use on a single charge. However, when low on power, its 120W wired charging is a lifesaver – it can refill the battery from 0-100% in under 20 minutes according to Xiaomi’s claims, which I found to hold true in my tests.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi 12T is available in Black, Blue and Silver colors. It starts at 380,000 Naira for the 128GB model and 680,000 Naira for 256GB on official Xiaomi stores and authorized retailers. This makes it very competitively priced for the power it offers.
Overall, with its attractive design, powerful specs and fast charging, the Xiaomi 12T delivers an excellent value flagship experience that will satisfy most users. It’s definitely worth considering if you’re in the market for a premium mid-ranger.
